Overlanding is quickly becoming one of the most popular trends in adventure travel and adding a UTV makes the adventure a million times better! Who doesn’t like the idea of leaving the city life for a couple of days and embarking on an adventure away from the main roads to just explore the scenery this world has to offer? UTV drivers are beginning to take part in the overlanding experience because it gives them the freedom to go anywhere and explore new destinations and adventures. The new places, people, and things you will explore and travel to give UTV riding a whole new meaning. If you are a UTV enthusiast interested in embarking on an overland adventure, we have compiled out “Top 5” accessories your UTV needs to be overland ready.

1. Tent:

The main accessory needed to overland is a tent. The tent is basically your home when overlanding so it is your last line of defense against the Mother Nature after a long day of driving or riding. Sleeping well is also important to staying healthy on the road and being alert while riding/driving. Setting it up above your UTV is most convenient because it does not take up a lot of room in your campsite and you will also not have to worry about any creatures that may be roaming around on the ground at night.

2. Trailer:

Having a trailer when overlanding will definitely add more comfort to your overlanding experience. Going on an overlanding adventure is going to require you to drive your Jeep so a trailer will be needed to pull your UTV wherever you go. Having a trailer can also give you more storage space throughout your trip.

3. Navigation

When you embark in an overlanding experience, having proper GPS navigation in your UTV is extremely important. As much as we all love our smartphones, they do not work in all areas whereas a GPS has its own satellite so you always have “service”.  Having a GPS installed in your UTV that offers navigation, smartphone integration, social media interaction, front and rear camera display, and vehicle diagnostics are essential for survival. Having a GPS installed will allow you to ride without having to worry about getting lost from your campsite or the nearest main road.

4. Spare Tire Mount:

One of the worst things that can happen to any UTV rider is getting a flat tire, but it can be even worse when you are miles away from your campsite and even further miles away from the main road. Having a spare and some sort of way to jack the vehicle up is the only guarantee you won't be stranded. Having a tire mounted to your UTV is a great way to stay safe during your trip and mounting it will be more convenient because it will take up less space.

Bonus Tip: Keep in mind that you can drive slowly on a flat tire for a mile or two without causing damage to your wheel

5. Cooler:

One of the most important things you will want to carry with you when you’re out on your UTV is a cooler. Wherever you are going you are going to want to carry some food and drink with you and you will want to keep them fresh. It is important to get a cooler that is durable and designed for extreme conditions. You can be miles away from the campsite and not have to worry about going back camp to eat because you will have your meal inside the cooler ready to eat anywhere you are at. Overlanding is a great experience that we recommend to anyone that enjoys the outdoors. If you are thinking of heading out for a couple of days, make sure your UTV is all set and ready before heading out to the off-road.
