After deciding you want to go with a naked bike (aka standard bike) the options are just as overwhelming. They come in different sized and a capable of so many different things. It is exciting to research and see what each brand and size bike have to offer. When choosing any type of bike also keep your riding experience and price range in consideration to match you with the best possible option for you. We’ve come up with 5 categories to help you make a decision on which naked bike you may want to choose.

Super Lightweight Bike:

Some super lightweight naked bikes we recommend are the Honda Grom or the Kawasaki Z-125 Pro. Super lightweight bikes are easy to learn how to shift and understand how the clutch works. Because the power on them is so limited you first experience will be a little mellower. If you are an experience rider, then you know these smaller and lighter bikes are quite fun to ride around especially in groups of other riders with a similar bike.

Recommended Experience: Beginner

Price Range: $3,000-$4,000

Riding Style: City dweller, commuting, mountain highways

Lightweight Bike:

If you are looking for a lighter ride, that is not considered “super lightweight”, the KTM Duke 390, Yamaha MT-03, and Honda CB300R are all great naked bikes. Perfect for beginners who are looking for a bigger body and think they are ready to handle slightly more power than what a super lightweight bike could offer. These are sometimes more popular because of the more affordable price ranges.

Recommended Experience: Beginner

Price Range: $5,000-$7000

Riding Style: Commuting, light freeway use

Middleweight Bike:

Middleweight bikes are a good median to what a lightweight and high-performance bike could do. Great middleweight bikes we recommend are the Yamaha MT-07, Suzuki SV650X, and the Kawasaki Z 650. So far, all of the bikes we have listed are great for any level rider. Today, one of the most active and competitive motorcycle classes of all is for the middleweight naked.

Recommended Experience: Beginner/Intermediate

Price Range: $7,000-$10,000

Riding Style: Commuter, long-distance

High-Performance Bike:

The high-performance naked bike is the big dog of the naked bikes because of the power these bikes have. Bikes like the Ducati Monster 1200, Honda CB1000R, and KTM Super Duke 1290. These bikes are designed to handle faster and challenging rides. They typically offer more features that enhance your riding experience. Their price ranges are significantly higher that other naked bikes, but with price come higher quality and more power at times. These are definitely recommended to riders who are more experienced, not the best option for a beginner rider. Just know your limits, with time you could get up to a high-performance bike!

Recommended Experience: Intermediate/Expert

Price Range: $15,000+

Riding Style: Track day, Limited canyon use

Café Racer Style:

The Café Racer Style is a lightweight, powerful motorcycle optimized for speed and handling rather than comfort – and for quick rides over short distances. This style bike is definitely a unique aesthetic that not just any motorcycle could offer. Depending on which brand and bike you choose the price range is wider than usual because of the different features they may have.

Recommended Experience: Intermediate

Price Range: $7,000-$15,000

Riding Style: commuter, quick weekend getaway ride, coffee shopper

Conclusion

Each of these categories is a great way to start to narrow down and find exactly what you are looking for in a naked bike. Each different type of naked bike offers something different from the other still giving you the naked bike look and engine that you may be looking for. We understand you may get excited and want to just pick the first one you laid your eyes on but just remember you have options. Finding the perfect fit and comfortable one is definitely possible. We hope this list was helpful and guides you to find exactly what you are looking for!
