Pirate Cove is a beautiful secluded oasis that is in the Moabi Regional Park, only 11 miles southeast of Needles, California. It is right off of Needles Freeway 40. Pirate Cove is an OHV-friendly area. They uniquely have private trails that can be ridden through giving you scenes of waterfront beaches, sand dunes, historic bridges, under train trestles and past old homesteads and mineshaft passages. Take a state-of-the-art off-road vehicle through the ever-changing terrain of sand, water, rock, and desert. If you do not have your own ATV/UTV you’re in luck because there are rental services located here!
Yacht Charter:
The Yacht Charter is a mini version of a cruise on the river. Yacht rides are only available through reservation. They can be reserved for special occasions, like weddings, birthday parties, or reunions (etc.). The reservation can be a little pricey but well worth it if you have a larger group to enjoy the entire yacht with. Time on the yacht is limited so be sure to set some time aside for this activity!
Hit the River:
Pirate Cove is special because you can arrive there by watercraft or driving up. If you drive there you can easily unload your watercraft at their unloading dock and take off into the Colorado River. You can choose to take off right away or park your watercraft onshore in designated areas, relax and soak in the sun. Additionally, they offer watercraft rentals if you do not have your own so everyone has the opportunity to join in on the fun.
Restaurant:
Pirate Cove Grill is a great place to grab a bite with the family. With a fun view of the Marina from the outdoor seating area this spot lives up to its name and is pirate-themed. Friendly waitresses ready to take your order and bring you out a delicious plate from their menu which offers a variety of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads, seafood’s, and pasta. There is something for everyone on their plentiful menus.
Bar:
While at Pirate Cove Grill, if age permits, be sure to try one of their Pirate Buckets available at the bar. The Pirate Bucket is a blended drink with premium liquors and other juices to refresh you on a hot day at the river. They’re large enough to share with friends or family old enough to drink. Remember to always drink responsibly and be aware of those around you!
Cabin Rentals:
Pirate Cove offers cabin rentals that are located right next to their restaurant. These cabins include a living room space, kitchen and of course bedrooms. The cabins come with items you’d normally need like silverware, dishes, bedsheets, etc. These cabins are fun to stay in and then wake up to plus they are very close to the beachfront of the river allowing you to get up and enjoy that freshwater. There are different cabin options to choose from so be sure to choose the one that is best for you!

Many visitors may refer to Tockpock 66 as a party headquarters on the Colorado River. There is a restaurant and boat docks from vacationers to sit back and enjoy a meal. There is also a pool on the premises and a bar in the pool! There is normally some type of live music going on every weekend and is busy during summer weekends. It is about a 10-minute ride on the water from Pirate Cove. You will be sure to have a great time if you stop by this very fun spot on the Colorado River.
Laughlin:
Whether you are more of an outdoorsy adventurous person or someone who wants to kick back and relax by the water, you can easily find something enjoyable to do. The summers here can be on the hot side and winters are more on the cooler side but overall it is dry and clear all year round. There are definitely more visitors from May to September as those are the hotter months and visitors can hop in the refreshing waters of the Colorado River.
Lake Havasu City:
Lake Havasu City is only about 30 minutes from Pirate Cove. There are two ways to get to Lake Havasu City. You can arrive by car which is how most visitors reach that destination. Or you can ride directly from Pirate Cove and go through the beautiful Colorado River. Riding your watercraft through the river is the more exciting and longer way to get there but well worth it. Views that you can only get from being in the middle of the river will be found if you head to Lake Havasu from Pirate Cove.

Pirate Cove is definitely a hidden oasis that thousands of visitors enjoy all year. This location is special because not only can you enjoy the river but you get to bring out all the toys. Off-roading and river trip all in one. Not many places have over 3200 miles of BLM private riding trails. This place has it all. Don’t forget you can choose to stay here and enjoy it all weekend.
